For a while it seemed as though grocery stores and supermarkets were retreating from city centres. But this is not so in the case of Rewe Richrath situated in the Opernpassagen in the heart of Cologne with a sales area of around 1,600 m² over two floors, plus an unusually large food court of 400 m² in size. The lighting concept does not use any diffuse general lighting at all and instead focuses on recessed, semi­recessed and conductor rail spotlights with LED tech­nology throughout. The BÄRO consultants systematically matched the LED spectrums of the EC series – 2,700 K, 3,000 K, 4,000 K and the special light colour “SpecialMeat” for meat and sausage products – to each product group to be illuminated. Not only does this enable the product group in question to be perfectly presented – zones with different a tmospheres are created on the premises that facilitate customer orientation.
