Air disinfection with UVC technology

In addition to conventional viruses, bacteria and germs, type C ultraviolet light also eliminates pandemic pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2. With a wavelength of 253.7 nm, UVC light eliminates up to 99.9% of all airborne microorganisms. Used in stand-alone ventilation systems or as a supplementary module for ventilation and air-conditioning systems, effective air disinfection reduces the concentration of infectious aerosols indoors.


Infectious aerosols?

Aerosols are particles of saliva or breathing fluid. They are created when we speak, scream, sing, cough, sneeze or simply breathe. Because of their small size - the particles are smaller than 1 micrometer (μm) - aerosols can stay in the air for several minutes or hours and travel longer distances. By inhaling infectious aerosols, the infection does not occur in the eye, mouth and throat area as usual, but deep in the lungs.

UVC systems for air disinfection are effective against aerosol infections. The ventilation systems attract the room air and inactivate up to 99.9% of all airborne micro-organisms. The inactivated viruses also include the pandemic pathogen SARS-CoV-2.


And how does UVC work?

Type C ultraviolet radiation is produced at a wavelength below 280 nm. The technology used by BÄRO for air purification / disinfection is based on UVC low-pressure lamps with 253.7 nm. This wavelength is very close to the optimum for absorbing DNA and RNA. The radiation destroys genetic material in the cell nucleus of microorganisms. Airborne germs are killed, viruses are inactivated.

The effect of UVC systems is therefore based on factors such as the UVC dose, the air guidance, the air flow, the air humidity and a system design adapted to your conditions.

The mobile AirCom reduces the risk of infection indoors with effective UVC air purification.
