Why should I disinfect surfaces?

Through so-called smear infections, pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 can be transmitted through person-to-person contact and via objects. The route of infection occurs by touching a surface that contains the SARS-CoV-2 virus, such as a light switch, a door handle, a smartphone or someone else's hand. This can transfer the virus to your hand, and then you can infect yourself by touching your mouth, nostrils or eyes.

How does UVC work?

Type C ultraviolet radiation is produced at a wavelength below 280 nanometers. The technology used by BÄRO for surface disinfection is based on UVC low-pressure lamps with 253.7 nm. This wavelength is very close to the optimum for absorbing DNA and RNA. The genetic material in the cell nucleus of microorganisms is destroyed by the radiation. Germs are killed and viruses inactivated.

UVC systems for surface disinfection are effective against smear infections. The UVC systems irradiate the surfaces of everyday objects and inactivate up to 99.9% of all microorganisms. The inactivated viruses also include the pandemic pathogen SARS-CoV-2.
